Emma turned two on June 1st. We celebrated "Elmo" style on Saturday, complete with Elmo invites, an Elmo poster, Elmo napkins and plates and an Elmo ice cream cake. Both sets of Grandparents came, as well as my sister and her family and Steve's youngest brother, Kevin. Emma was quite stoic about the whole thing, including the birthday song, cake and presents. She finally showed a little bit of her goofy personality later in the night when she discovered the punch balloons and how fun they are. The big gifts for the day were more babies, a few bubble toys, nail polish, a vaccuum cleaner, puzzles, a play sushi set and of course, more babies. She loves all of her new toys and has been playing with them non-stop since the party.
On a more sentimental note, we also honored Emma's birthparents by having two special cupcakes with candles in them at the party. I know that somewhere in China, Emma's mom is remembering her around this time of year and wondering where she is and if she is happy and healthy and in a loving family. I pray that God will give her an unexplainable peace that only He can give, helping her find comfort and healing. We are so thankful for her, as she gave birth to the little girl that was chosen, by God, to be a part of our family, forever.
