UW-Whitewater Gang

We got together with my college roomates and their families on Saturday. Tana and Jill both live in the Milwaukee area and Mary & I live in the Fox Valley, so we try to take turns getting together either here or in Milwaukee. We went to Tana and Rich's house for lunch and to visit. It was so fun to see everyone and to see how much all of the kids are growing! Tana's daughter, McKenna had so much fun playing with Emma. It was cute to see them interact together!!

Emma Loves to Sing!

We may have a future Girls Choir member in the Fidlin household...and it ain't the momma'! Emma seems to really enjoy singing. In fact, today, when Steve went in to wake her up, she was sitting in her crib singing away! Here is a little snippet of one of her tunes.

Emma is also beginning to put words together to form compound words and little sentences. As a reading/language person...I am just loving this. The first two times around (with the boys) I think I was such a Nervous Nelly and didn't know as much as I know now about language development. It is so fun to listen to her progression! Yesterday she stood at the top of the steps looking down at her brothers and said "Dow....dah". Translation: "Downstairs". She continued throughout the day, repeating things I'd say, such as "toothbrush", "Bye, Daddy", etc... It's so cute to hear her start to put it all together. Just wait till the reading comes....I'll be in my glory!!

On the downside, I was down and out with a touch of the stomach flu yesterday, and Emma is sick with a cold again. Will the gushing nose ever be gone?? It seems I am constantly wiping her nose...and she absolutely hates it!! I think sometimes when she complains to me, it is some form of Chinese swearing that she is doing! It's quite funny!

We have spent the week doing a variety of things to stay busy. On Monday we went to Monkey Joes with some friends. Then we went out to eat at HuHot for supper (kids eat free on Mondays). Emma loved the noodles and veggies! Tuesday the boys had four friends over (siblings) for the morning and we went to the library and took Ellie for her vet appointment. Wednesday we went to Toys R Us so the boys could spend some of their Easter money. They both wanted to buy a ToothTunes toothbrush. Yesterday and today the boys have been busy playing with friends and I have been doing some baking. We are heading down to Milwaukee for a get together with my four college roomies and their families. Sunday is Easter with my family at my sister's house. I'll post some photos after the weekend.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Sam & Tommy Get Baptized

Our good friends' sons, Sam and Tommy, were baptized yesterday. Their church, like our church, believes in believer baptism. It was exciting to hear these young boys commit their lives to the Lord and publically profess their faith in Jesus Christ. It will be amazing to watch their journey with God and to see how He works in their lives.

Noah brought along his camcorder to record the baptism and immediatly came home to start making a movie for his friends of their big day. Enjoy the movie....get a tissue!

FYI, The man next to Pastor Tim is Sam and Tommy's dad, Rob. How cool is that!!

The Emma Dictionary

Feeding my baby.

I love to drag the potty chair out to sit on...

or climb on....

It amazes me how much Emma can understand. Her receptive language seems really advanced to me. We can ask her to do things and she completely understands what we are saying. Her expressive language is coming along, too. Here is a list of "Emma Words". Notice, she loves the word "Ba" and it has various meanings in the "Emma Dictionary" depending on the intonation.

Words that are clear and recognizable:

Bye
Hot
Eat
Up
Hi
Uh-oh

Words that may need translation:

“Ma”-Blowing Kisses
“Maaam”-Mom
“Dada”-Dad
“Oh-ah”-Noah
“Da-da”-Caleb

"Ma-Ma"-marker

My "smoochy" face! Love you!!

I'm So Mad!!!

Emma has become such a little character. She is definatly getting close to turning two! She seems to think that we can't see things if she puts them on her head. Whenever we ask her to give us something that she doesn't particularly wish to give up, she puts it on her head. I guess she thinks that "If I can't see it, they must not be able to, either".

Another funny thing she does when she is mad at us is hide in the garbage cabinet. It's so funny, though, that we end up laughing, which in turn makes her laugh and then she forgets all about being mad!
