Our good friends' sons, Sam and Tommy, were baptized yesterday. Their church, like our church, believes in believer baptism. It was exciting to hear these young boys commit their lives to the Lord and publically profess their faith in Jesus Christ. It will be amazing to watch their journey with God and to see how He works in their lives.
Noah brought along his camcorder to record the baptism and immediatly came home to start making a movie for his friends of their big day. Enjoy the movie....get a tissue!
FYI, The man next to Pastor Tim is Sam and Tommy's dad, Rob. How cool is that!!

The Emma Dictionary

It amazes me how much Emma can understand. Her receptive language seems really advanced to me. We can ask her to do things and she completely understands what we are saying. Her expressive language is coming along, too. Here is a list of "Emma Words". Notice, she loves the word "Ba" and it has various meanings in the "Emma Dictionary" depending on the intonation.
Words that are clear and recognizable:

My "smoochy" face! Love you!!
I'm So Mad!!!
Emma has become such a little character. She is definatly getting close to turning two! She seems to think that we can't see things if she puts them on her head. Whenever we ask her to give us something that she doesn't particularly wish to give up, she puts it on her head. I guess she thinks that "If I can't see it, they must not be able to, either".
Another funny thing she does when she is mad at us is hide in the garbage cabinet. It's so funny, though, that we end up laughing, which in turn makes her laugh and then she forgets all about being mad!

Chinese New Year

We celebrated Chinese New Year with my dad this year. We went to the Families with Children from China New Year in Green Bay. I have to say, we haven't been too impressed with this the last two times we've attended and will probably look elsewhere for a place to celebrate next year. Two years ago when we attended, they did not plan correctly for the food. We ended up waiting so long to be served our meal and then when it finally did come, there wasn't enough for everyone at our table to try it. It was really dissapointing, as we invited our parents to come with us and we ended up going to Arby's for the meal on the way home!
Last year, we opted out, but this year we were excited to go again, thinking they've had two years to better plan for the event. We decided to go only for the entertainment portion of the celebration and then come back to Appleton to eat at a Chinese restaurant here, as the prices were quite high for us to eat there. Well, it was another year of dissapointment, as the entertainment lasted 30 minutes, tops. We felt so bad that we had invited my dad and it was a whopping 30 minute deal.
Next year we will either join the Fox Cities Chinese Association for their Chinese New Year or we will drive down to Milwaukee to celebrate.

Cucumber Masks??
Whoever said "Don't play with your food"? It's so much fun! The boys were having fun eating and goofing around with all of the veggies I was cutting up to have on hand for snacking.
Mommy & Me
Since I am the photographer in the house, I am not in many photos. Here are some pictures I tried to take of myself with Emma.
